Heather Cleland

Visiting Plastic Surgeon and Head, Victorian Adult Burns Service, Alfred Hospital
Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, Central Clinical School, Monash University

Heather is a Visiting Plastic Surgeon and Head of the Victorian Adult Burns Service at the Alfred hospital in Melbourne; and Associate Professor, in the Department of Surgery, Central Clinical School, Monash University.

Her interests include outcomes after burn injury and quality improvement initiatives in burn care, and she is currently chair of the steering committee of the clinical quality Burns Registry of Australia and New Zealand (BRANZ).

Her research activities include clinical as well as translational research into the design and use of bioengineered skin substitutes in the treatment of burns, and she supervises higher degree research students from a range of disciplines.

She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the International Society for Burn Injuries (Burns), and involved in training and supervision of medical students and surgical trainees.
