Dr Jorian Kippax

MBChB, FACEM
Australian Defence Force Major

Dr Jorian (Jo) Kippax is an Emergency and Hyperbaric Medicine Specialist at the Royal Hobart Hospital, with an interest in trauma and disaster preparedness.

Jo is a reservist officer with the ADF with deployments to PNG andNorthern India as a subject matter expert for an Altitude Logistics information exchange. He is involved with the Army hospital certification program and commands the Tasmanianreservist health element.

In civilian life he is involved with AUSMAT, deployed in 2013 to the Philippines following Cyclone Yolanda as Clinical Lead and 2IC. He is also involved with the Australian Antarctic Programme medical retrieval team.

Jo was a keen expedition mountaineer claiming multiple Himalayan first ascents until his wife got fed up with it but continues to enjoy rock-climbing, sneaky mountaineering trips, coastal sailing in his traditionally rigged wooden sailing boat, (or some contrived combination of above) and trying to keep his kids at least reasonably safe doing the same stuff.
