To ensure that your visit to Hobart and the experience of the Trauma Tasmania Symposium is as enjoyable as possible, here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions which will hopefully provide you with all the information you need.
We encourage you to read through this before you attend. Please contact us if you have a question that we haven’t answered.
How do I get from the airport to the Symposium Venue?
Travel time between the Hobart Airport and the city is approximately 20 minutes.
The Hobart Shuttle Bus Service departs outside the terminal after the arrival of every flight, transferring passengers to the city and the major city hotels.
The Hobart Airport is serviced by several taxi firms. The taxi rank is located right outside the terminal building. Please click on the link for more information: www.hobartairport.com.au
Where is the Symposium venue?
The Symposium will be held at the LT2, Medical Science Precinct, University of Tasmania – 17 Liverpool Street, Hobart.
Is there parking at the Medical Science Precinct?
Delegates will be responsible for their own parking as there is no parking available onsite.
There is some parking available in Campbell and Liverpool Streets.
Parking meters operate on Saturdays in Hobart from 8.30am – 6pm and cost between $1.20 and $4.00 per hour.

What is the dress code for the conference?
Dress code is smart casual.
What time does the Registration Desk open?
The Registration Desk will be open on 1 June from 7:00am – 5:00pm
Where do I register?
The Registration Desk will be located in the main entrance from Liverpool Street. Please direct any questions you may have regarding registration, session attendance or other elements of the Symposium to Leishman Associates staff at this desk.
Smoking
The Medical Science Precinct is a non-smoking venue. However, guests can smoke outside in designated areas.
How do I gain entry to the Symposium sessions?
All delegates and exhibitors will be provided with a name badge, which will give you access to all sessions. Please ensure you always wear your name badge.
I have special dietary requirements – will I be served the correct food?
If you have advised Leishman Associates of any special dietary requirements, the caterers at each function have been provided these. A special buffet table will be set during the day for special diets. If you are unsure, please see the staff at the Registration Desk.
What will the weather be like?
Winter runs from May through August, during winter, the daily temperature is between 3 and 11 degrees Celsius.
Will there be internet available?
Free wireless internet access is available for the duration of the Symposium. The password and login details will be available closer to the Symposium.
PLEASE NOTE: The internet is not to be used to view or download any illicit material, including movies, music etc.
Where can I find a list of delegates who are attending the conference?
A delegate list will be emailed out a week prior to the conference. Printed delegate lists will not be available at the conference. If you had selected privacy required when completing your registration form, your name will not appear on the list.
How will I know if there have been any changes to the program?
Any changes to the Symposium program will be announced during housekeeping notices each morning. You may also check with Leishman Associates staff at the Registration Desk.
Mobile Phones
As a courtesy to other delegates, please ensure that all mobile phones are turned off or in silent mode during all sessions.
Photographs, videos, recording of sessions
Delegates are not permitted to use any type of camera or recording device at any of the sessions unless written permission has been obtained from the relevant speaker.
Is there security at the Symposium?
The members of the Symposium organising committee and Leishman Associates accept no liability for personal accident or loss or damage suffered by any participant, accompanying person, invited observer or any other person by whatever means. Neither do we accept liability for any equipment nor software brought to the Symposium by delegates, speakers, sponsors or any other party.
Please protect your personal property. Do not leave laptops, cameras, and other valuable items unsecured. Be conscious of individuals who appear out of place and do not wear a Symposium name badge. Advise Leishman Associates Staff if this does occur.
